The golden hamster as a definitive host of Taenia solium and Taenia saginata.
Immunosuppressants have been extensively used to increase the susceptibility of various laboratory animals to several species of nematodes (Campbell , 1963; 1968; Campbell & Collette, 1962 ; Di Netta , Katz & Campbell , 1972 ; Miller, 1966; Mougeot & Lancastre, 1970 ; Parker, 1961; Ritterson, 1959 ; Wiest, 1972; Wakelin, 1970). In this study, 12 Small-Ear-Miniature pigs aged 142 to 185 days were used to determine whether pigs injected with nonviable oncospheres of Taenia solium or Taenia saginata asiatica can become resistant to the challenge of viable eggs of T. solium. The 12 pigs were equally divided into 4 groups: 3 experimental groups in which each pig was injected subcutaneously with a mixture of 0.2 mL complete...

Three days postoperative, she vomited a 2-meter-long tapeworm (Taenia saginata), a rare route of expulsion.
